Documenting my struggle to find the lip pencil made famous by Kylizzle, MAC’s Whirl, ultimately leading me to a spot-on dupe!

I’ve never been too big on lip products, but after seeing all this commotion about Kylie Jenner’s iconic lip color, I had to hop on this trend and give it a shot for myself. Besides, I just love the natural mauve color she uses!

Word on the web is that she uses Mac’s lip pencil in Whirl, and so my hunt began. Unfortunately, at all the Mac counters and stores I visited, they were completely sold out. One of them hadn’t even gotten shipments of it in months. I was so bummed! Luckily, one of the Mac makeup artists suggested a lipstick+lip pencil combo which is supposed to be exactly the same color scheme, and that was MAC’s Long-Lasting Lip Liner in Beurre and MAC’s Lipstick in Faux.

I absolutely LOVE this combo! I’ve been wearing these two lip products nonstop almost every day, and it’s safe to say that I’ve converted to a lippie person all thanks to Beurre and Faux. I admittedly only slightly overdraw my lips to achieve that plush lip look which Kylie is known for. I say slightly because I can’t bring myself to do it to the magnitude to which she overdraws her lips. But, that’s just me!

Mac Beurre Lip Liner Pencil

This lip combination was inspired by one of my friends- she was wearing Kylie Cosmetics Love Bite lip kit and it looked amazing! I went on a hunt to find a good dupe of Love Bite because I’m not in love with the Kylie formula. I haven’t swatched them side by side, but I think Anastasia Beverly Hills Veronica is a pretty close shade. If you have both please let me know if they’re similar! I almost picked up MAC Verve lipstick as another option, but I wear my dark lipsticks more often when they are matte, and Verve is a shiny satin. Anastasia lipsticks are great at not transferring. Love Bite is a pretty unique color surprisingly and I had a hard time finding the right shade. Kudos to Kylie Cosmetics for creating a great color.

ABH Veronica is described as a taupe mauve on Sephora.com. That is the perfect description of this shade. It came off a little bit purple berry toned to me too. MAC Beurre matched it perfectly and I love the formula of MAC’s liners. Unfortunately, I guess MAC discontinued this lip liner which is a major bummer because it is a great color. A good dupe is Maybelline’s plum liner.

As soon as I finished doing this makeup I went out for a brisk walk and didn’t have time to wash my face first. It held up perfectly! I will definitely be doing this look again for a night out.
